Let’s Talk about Pupuseria Y Tacqueria “Jimmy”
Let’s talk about El Salvadoran food!! Pupuseria y Tacqueria “Jimmy” is on the NE corner of Memorial and Admiral (8107 E Admiral pl. in Tulsa). It’s a cool little spot tucked in the corner of a parking lot. It has an awning over it with seating under and outside of it. I knew this place was legit when I walked up because of the speaker in the pictures. Those who know, know what I mean. Those who don’t wouldn’t understand! It was very reminiscent of something I would’ve found in Los Angeles.
So what about the food? Amazing! This is the first time I have ever had a pupusa. It reminded me of a tamale smashed and fried. Absolutely delicious! There is also Mexican food like tacos. The menu is very extensive and even includes plantains. I did something I wasn’t proud of here. I actually ate a vegetable. There is a side they include. It’s a traditional cabbage side. It’s kind of like coleslaw. At least it looks like it. Coleslaw blows from my point of view. In fact, I only tried this to be polite, and I ended up eating the whole damn thing! Now that means something. They also have a whole bunch of Latin type snacks which was real cool to see. It’s a place I will definitely return to so I can try more of the menu.
Not only was it delicious, but it was something different. If I’m eating Mexican food, it’s basically an asada taco and asada burrito, maybe a tamale or gordita. Not that I’m talking shit about Gorditas, you know I love you! The point is… It’s the same few items all the time. And again, they are amazing, but this is something different and something great. Some of you are going to say it’s not new to me Steve, I love El Salvadorian food. Well, you can piss off then… This wasn’t for you 🙂.
Anyway, this is something great and something different for most of us. Give it a shot, you won’t be sorry!
