Let’s Talk about Fassler Hall Downtown Tulsa
“Let’s talk about burgers, beer and brats!! I can’t count the number of people over the course of the last few years who have told me to try Fassler Hall in Downtown Tulsa. Why wait so long you might ask…
Well, I’m not really into the bar scene. You see, ole Steve has an affinity for overindulgences. After a few brewski’s, I have been known to get very friendly, sing, dance, and do some gooch kickin’! You might say, “Well, what’s wrong with that?” First, I am married, and can’t sing nor dance. So to avoid embarrassment, jail, and divorce court, I have a hard stop at 2 drinks. Trust me, it’s a good rule for everyone involved!
Well enough about what’s left of my memories of the 90’s. Let me tell you about Fassler Hall! I have been there three times in the last few weeks. I mean it’s my duty to make sure I provide an accurate review to the group. It is due to this responsibility that I’ve endured multiple brats, beers, duck fries, a double bacon cheeseburger and even cheesy Gouda sauce. You are welcome!! 🙂
Let’s start with my favorite, the good old double bacon cheeseburger, plain and dry of course! It was absolutely great. Not huge, but delicious. These are called howdy burgers, and apparently associated with the Howdy Burger establishment. Howdy Burger does have a great burger, but unlike Howdy Burger’s howdy burger, this howdy burger came with duck fries!! What are duck fries you ask? Well… They are home cut fries, fried in duck fat, making Fassler Hall one of the few establishments in Tulsa that have both an exceptional Burger and fries!
Now let’s talk about the brats! Those who know me, know I didn’t get down with vegetables, especially fermented ones, so I can’t vouch for their sauerkraut, or mustard that everyone else raves about. However, I can vouch for their cheddar and cheddar jalapeno brats, which are amazing, especially topped with gouda sauce! Even though there was some greenery on it, lamb sausage was great as well!
Then there is the bar. Great beer on tap and even better bartenders. Every time I have gone in, I have gotten different brews and quizzed the barkeep on what to try. They have been very knowledgeable and never led me astray. The atmosphere is open with traditional long picnic tables and a stage.
Bottom line… If you haven’t been to Fassler Hall, you need to go. Grab a burger, or a couple brats, and some beer. It’s a great time with some good people.
