Let’s Talk about Uncle Vinny’s Pizza
Let’s talk about pizza! I’m not talking about just any pizza… I’m talking about a Broken Arrow comeback! I’m talking about the original Uncle Vinny’s Pizzeria!
I remember going to Uncle Vinny’s years ago, but I stopped. The place didn’t have the same atmosphere, and the food wasn’t as good. The last time I remember going, they were also buying gold, had some kind of pawn shop going, and were having a conversation about a shipment of televisions. I mean… I have seen The Sopranos and had no intention of spending time at Satriales with Christopher or Pauly Walnuts! So it wasn’t a surprise to me when they closed recently. What did surprise me was a post that I saw floating around about the original owners reopening Uncle Vinny’s, so I had to check it out!
Let’s start with the service. One of the frustrations with so many places these days is the lack of personality. Not so at Uncle Vinny’s. As soon as I walked in, we struck up a conversation, and talked about the menu and the reopening. Apparently, the original owners sold Uncle Vinny’s about 8 years ago and are now reopening after the previous owners failed. This was a real conversation, not just small talk. Everybody was nice and friendly
I got my typical… a large all meat pie, and whatever the most popular bread item is. For this visit, it was the garlic knots. The knots came out first, and they were great. A nice crunch, with a soft warm center. Although I will have to say, the star of the show was the hot oil. What is hot oil you ask? As far as I can tell it’s just pepper infused oil. There is a little bit of heat but nothing crazy. I believe they make it there. It is absolutely delicious! Next time I’m getting it on my pizza which is an option.
You know I wish I remember what Uncle Vinny’s Pizza tasted like originally, but I forgot. That being said, the pizza was great. A really good crust, and great quality toppings. It has the standard New York style crust, but I think this one is the thinnest out of all the great pizza places in Tulsa. The pizza has great flop and is delicious. The outer crust is really crisp, which is great, especially dipped in the hot oil!
There’s also a deli case full of desserts. I asked if these desserts were made in house, and I was told unfortunately not. Just when I was about to be super sad, I was told they were shipped in from New Jersey. I mean I’ve never been to New Jersey, but that sounds pretty legit to me. They recommended the Italian cream cake, and it was great as well. I was not disappointed with any portion of the meal, and it was all wonderful.
I mean I don’t know if there’s anything else to say. I am so thrilled to have Uncle Vinny’s back, the pizza is great, the service is great, and the people are great. So, if you miss Uncle Vinny’s as much as I did, or have never had them, you should give them a shot. You won’t be sorry!
Excellent post. I certainly love this website. Continue the good work!
