Let’s talk about Reviews!!
When you read a review from PisosTulsa.com, not only will it be informative and entertaining, but you can be confident it is the absolute best of Tulsa! Also, I abide by a few rules when doing reviews:
1. I must pay for the meal.
It is not uncommon for me to receive messages from restaurants asking me to review their food, and often, it is offered for free. For the integrity of the review, I insist I pay for every meal and not take any compensation. There have been occasions I have gone into a restaurant after a review, an owner recognized me, and refused to let me pay for the meal. When this happens, I still try to pay, but a fat boy can only take so much! Usually, the free meal is accompanied by a Thank You and stories of how much business improved after a review. These stories mean so much to me, and the free meal is never reviewed.
2. I always dine at an unexpected time.
I love getting restaurant and social media review requests and try to make them a priority when deciding where to do a review. However, I do my best to patronize a restaurant at an unexpected time. There have been times I have been invited to a restaurant with the well-intentioned statement of “Let me know when you want to come by, and I will cook your meal personally.” These are very generous offers and appreciated, but I try not to give a heads up prior to a visit. It is important for me to know the meal I get is representative of a meal anyone reading my review would get. Now, have there ever been times when my good-looking mug, swagger, beard, and bald head have been recognized? Yes, but that is the only clue ever given.
3. I only review the best.
I do not review every restaurant I try because I never leave a negative review. It is my intention to bring great Green Country restaurants and those folks who are looking for them together. Plus, times are tough enough for eateries these days. I don’t want to be one more impediment. Now that is not to say I won’t talk a little shit! I share the desire not to blow money on a crappy meal, and I am always up to share my experience when sought. From time-to-time folks will ask me privately or in a social media post what I think of a certain restaurant, and I will be forthright when answering. If I think it is awesome or trash, I will say so and why.
